Inside the Diamond

My Dear Theophilus,

I don’t know if I was asleep or awake; this I cannot tell you, but I had the most extraordinary experience. I am bursting with joy and must share it with someone or I am afraid that I will explode and there will be nothing left of Evangeline except little piles of cells splashed all around this winter garden.

I remember that I was sitting in my big old chair in front of the fireplace yesterday during the snow storm. All was quiet and peaceful except for the sizzle of the burning wood. I was reading my Bible trying hard to force myself into the world it describes as I usually do when I read these mystical pages. What was I reading? Let me think. Yes! It was this passage in John, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.” Then, and I think this was the passage that opened up to let me in! Jesus says, “At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

With those words I let the Book fall into my lap and I gazed pensively at the flames before me. Did they hypnotize me? I don’t know but suddenly I was no longer in my den, but had entered a place that I can only describe as being in the center of a diamond! I looked around and saw light refracting and rainbows everywhere. And then I heard a voice as of an angel speaking to me. I could not see any form of this being but I heard a most melodious sound saying to me,

“Light greets you in this place far from the deception of form.”

“What?” I replied incredulously, “who are you; where am I?”

“My child, you have finally succeeded to enter love and light. You are in Christ as you have never been before nor could ever be.” The voice penetrated me with a sensation of sheer delight. I tried to look around but I couldn’t see with my eyes, everything was blindingly luminous and colorful.

Then the voice continued, “God created matter and for this reason, it is blessed. He created mankind in His Holy image and likeness, but that image and likeness is not material. As long as you are on the earth, even though you try hard to search for Truth about God, it appears to be subjective. This is why men argue with each other about the reality of God. Each soul has a unique perspective regarding everything outside of itself. It is as looking at only one facet of a diamond; all the while the diamond is multifaceted and complex. In some ways everyone is right and everyone is wrong. No one who looks upon a diamond can perceive its totality hence the arguments. Those who penetrate the diamond can never disagree about the Truth of it. The experience erases the subjectivity of perception.”

Then Theophilus, it hit me.  God knows me fully, just as He knows you too Theophilus, because He knows us from within us. I am afraid I could never know any man, even you, so completely.

My dear dear Theophilus, the light was so bright and warm. The colors sparkled like stars. I must always remember that God is Spirit that made matter. To be in the Christ and He in Me is to know Truth. There is no disagreement because the light shines to reveal all. It is getting there that confounds me. How entered the diamond I do not know. Perhaps I was invited. Perhaps that is the only way anyone can reach the inside of the diamond.

Then as if awakened I found myself peering at the flames again.

I must stop writing now. Please don’t hesitate to tell me of your own experiences in entering the diamond of God’s luminous life.

Yours faithfully,
